7 Conditions that CBD Has Been Shown to Help Treat in Clinical Trials

Did you know CBD can treat serious health conditions? I will share 7 conditions that CBD has been shown to help treat in clinical trials.

The healing benefits of cannabis, and more specifically, Cannabidiol (CBD) has been known for centuries. However, when the war of drugs began in the 1970’s cannabis became outlawed. This made it difficult for people to utilize the healing properties of the plant as it was deemed a criminal offense. Over time, the awareness of using cannabis for healing purposes faded away.

Exemptions were granted to select individuals who could use cannabis for treatments such as glaucoma, but that was about it.

Fast forward to the 21st century, and we have revisited the cannabis prohibition and have legalized the plant throughout Canada and most of the United States. THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is still in question in some states, but not many can deny the benefits of the other Cannabinoid, CBD.

“Unlike THC, CBD doesn’t make you “high” and typically doesn’t cause any negative effects.” – Crystal Raypole

CBD has helped treat countless conditions. Here are 7 examples that CBD has been proven to treat in clinical trials:

1. Anxiety Relief with CBD

This is one of the most common uses for CBD. Millions of people struggle with anxiety on a daily basis as we are constantly trying to keep on top of everything. Ultimately, this stresses us out causing feelings of tension and worry… For some people, these feelings become heightened and make it hard to function and even breathe (a.k.a. anxiety attacks). The properties in CBD have been proven to help us calm down!

How it works:

Many key functions in your body are operated by the endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system is responsible for regulating basic bodily functions including our state of mind. If you are having trouble finding balance on your own, the cannabinoids in CBD can help.

“Cannabinoids interact with your endocannabinoid system, which helps your body maintain a state of balance and stability, or homeostasis.” – Sian Furgeson

Did you know – The ECS exists and is active in your body even if you don’t use cannabis.

CBD is a great option for anxiety relief because it effectively helps you achieve a balance, and often starts working right away. In January of last year, there was a clinical trial of 72 adults with primary concerns of anxiety.

“Anxiety scores decreased within the first month in 57 patients (79.2%) and remained decreased during the study duration.” – The Permanente Journal

2. How CBD Treats Insomnia

Many people struggle with insomnia these days too. Often times anxiety and insomnia go hand in hand. It can be difficult to quiet the mind long enough to fall asleep. People who struggle with Insomnia not only have a hard time falling asleep but also staying asleep. There are countless studies that prove CBD can help treat insomnia. The Permanente Journal published these findings:

“The study involved 72 subjects, with 47 experiencing anxiety and 25 experiencing poor sleep. The subjects were each given 25 milligrams (mg) of CBD in capsule form each day. In the first month, 79.2 percent of the patients reported lower anxiety levels and 66.7 percent reported better sleep.”

3. Depression – Mood Regulation with CBD

Ah, depression. Silent and subtle to outsiders, but a very serious condition too. Depression can come in waves. Commonly individuals with depression are really good at hiding it. Their moods are their only real giveaway as they can swing from both extremes in an instant! CBD helps with mood regulation and again, calming the mind. Those with depression often find themselves overwhelmed by life and we believe taking CBD can significantly help with that!

“CBD doesn’t necessarily boost serotonin levels, but it may affect how your brain’s chemical receptors respond to the serotonin that’s already in your system.” – Kimberly Holland

It is hard to pinpoint what exactly causes depression, but some experts believe in a theory known as clinical endocannabinoid deficiency (CECD). Meaning, your body does not have what it needs to keep basic functions (such as your mood) regulated on its own. We suggest taking CBD to help supplement a potential deficiency.

Rather than reaching for meds, why not try something natural and safe for your body. CBD has far fewer side effects than any anti-depressants. Always consult with a health practitioner before making changes to your medication regimen.

Research for using CBD to help treat depression is still in preliminary stages. If you are interested, here are the research findings from the animal testings done last February by the Mol Neurobiol.

4. Fight Chronic Pain with CBD

Those who suffer from chronic pain are in pain all of the time. If this speaks true for you, perhaps you should try a natural alternative instead of numbing the pain with pain killers. Humans feel pain when our receptors fire signals to the brain. Essentially these signals are shouting HELLO, I AM IN PAIN, DEAL WITH IT. You do not want to only mask or numb the pain by taking medications… It is extremely important to work through the pain and help your body heal from it before it becomes something worse. Pain signals occur after an injury or trauma and will linger in your nervous system if not treated properly.

How it works:

As mentioned above, your body produces endocannabinoids naturally; which are neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors in your nervous system. Your body has an endocannabinoid system (ECS) that regulates many aspects within your body, including pain. If for some reason there is a deficiency or a blockage within the ECS, then your body will lose the ability to function properly. Taking CBD can help because the cannabinoids found in cannabidiol support the ECS.

5. Tumor Reduction with CBD Treatment

If your body is not functioning in equilibrium, it will start trying to fight with itself and more serious conditions arise. The human body is a machine. If not cared for properly, it too will run down and need “repairs.” Tumors may appear as the body externalizes pain in the physical form. Sure, tumors can be removed if caught early, but perhaps it is better to focus on proper maintenance and health to avoid getting to that point altogether.

“There’s solid evidence supporting the idea that cannabinoids can reduce tumor growth in animal models of cancer.” – Ann Pietrangelo

“Cannabinoids can help slow tumor growth, reduce tumor invasion, and induce tumor cell death.” – Ann Pietrangelo

6. CBD Reduces Epilepsy

There have been more and more clinical trials with the use of CBD to treat epilepsy in people of all ages. The strongest scientific evidence is for CBD usage for effectively treating childhood epilepsy syndromes (such as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome). These conditions do not typically respond well to anti-seizure medications. Miraculously, in numerous studies, CBD was able to reduce the number of seizures, and in some cases, it was able to stop the seizures altogether!

“A study gave 214 people with severe epilepsy 0.9–2.3 grams of CBD oil per pound (2–5 g/kg) of body weight. Their seizures reduced by a median of 36.5%” – National Center for Biotechnology Information

7. Fight the Big C with CBD

Yes. CBD can help treat conditions as serious as Cancer! As the saying goes, “if you don’t take the time to work on your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness.” I am no expert on wellness (yet), but I am learning more about wellness every single day. And, I do know that the quote speaks some serious truth! When you neglect your body, suppress emotions, and hinder your own personal growth, other parts of your body begin to shut down and that is when diseases arise.

Make Changes

With that in mind, I do know cancer can sneak up out of nowhere too and inhabit even the healthiest of humans. It is important to focus on healing and make any changes you see fit. We believe one major change should be to implement CBD to your daily regimen. Clinical trials have shown that CBD has made a difference in cancer patients.

Research suggests that cannabinoids may ease neuropathic pain and nausea. THC has shown to improve poor appetite due to cancer and cancer treatment, while CBD can suppress it. CBD is also thought to have anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety properties.” – Ann Pietrangelo

CBD may also enhance uptake or increase the potency of certain drugs used to treat cancer.” – Ann Pietrangelo
