5 Things To Know Before Giving CBD To Your Pets

Your pet is a family member and as such, you’ll want to ensure they’re always in good health. Here are 5 things to know before giving CBD to your pets.

CBD Will Not Get Your Pet High

For those of you that haven’t heard of CBD, it is a non-psychoactive cannabidiol from the marijuana and hemp plants. It is used in oils, edibles, and tinctures to relax the body and provide some other effects which we’ll get into later. CBD oil for animals shouldn’t contain any THC. Otherwise known as delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, THC is the psychoactive compound found in Cannabis that provides the “high”. It is important to note that THC can be very harmful to animals, so be sure to avoid any products that list it as an ingredient.

The Benefits Of Giving Your Animals CBD

CBD is commonly used to treat a variety of ailments in humans. As the market for it has continued to grow, more and more research has been conducted to determine its uses. As it turns out, CBD is not only beneficial to humans but animals as well. It can be used as a powerful painkiller, anti-inflammatory, and stress reliever. It is also used to treat anxiety in both humans and animals. Arguably the best known medicinal use of CBD is its anticonvulsant quality. This makes it the ideal choice of treatment for animals with tremors, seizures, spasms, and tics. CBD is also antiemetic, meaning it helps control nausea and vomiting while also stimulating appetite.

Look For Organic CBD Products From Reputable Brands

Just like any other valued family member, you’ll want your pets to consume high-quality products that won’t damage their health. It’s important to verify that the CBD you’re giving your pet doesn’t have ingredients that could be harmful to them. Pick a product that is certified and tested. If it is genuine CBD oil, you may see Cannabidiol, full-spectrum hemp, hemp oil, PCR (phytocannabinoid-rich), or PCR hemp extracts written on the label. You should choose products that are free of pesticides, fungicides, heavy metals, and THC that could harm your pets. Personally, I recommend Mello CBD Oil, they are an affordable, high-quality choice for your pets.

Oral Administration Is The Most Reliable Method

Oral administration is much more reliable as you know exactly how much you’re giving your pet. A topical application does have potential but it can be difficult to determine how much of the product is actually being absorbed.

Not All CBD Products Are Created Equal

In the case of just about any medicinal product, the price is generally a little expensive. When it comes to things like CBD, the high price is justified by great quality products that deliver their intended effects. If you find a brand that is significantly lower in price, buyer beware. Brands that can afford to price aggressively low do so by cutting corners.

If your pets are on medication or if you’re simply uncertain about giving them CBD, it’s always a good idea to consult your local vet. Will you give CBD pet products a try? Let us know in the comments below. Shop here for some CBD pet products.
